Tommy Redd is the Legendary Songwriter and Guitarist for Epic Recording Artist Nantucket, a True Americana Guitar Hero performing “real music for real people”. Tommy’s down to earth lyrics touch the heart and live forever. Famous for his crazy onstage antics from auctioneer square dance intros, playing solos with a spoon and honky tonk slide guitar with a beer bottle. Tommy Redd was inductee to the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame and a proud member of “The Americana Music Association”. Grand Union Records worldwide formats include Amazon Compact Disc & Music, Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, Tidal and all major digital and streaming services.
Starting his music career from Jacksonville, NC in 1969 Tommy was one of the founding members, songwriter and guitarist of the R&B band called Stax of Gold that later became known as Nantucket Sleighride captivating audiences playing covers throughout the east coast. As the band developed a growing following, the band began introducing original songs into their showcase.
In 1977 signing with Epic Records, the band shortened the name to Nantucket; releasing self-titled album featuring the Tommy Redd written AOR Radio hit single “Heartbreaker.” An aggressive national coliseum tour followed and Nantucket was placed on the bill with classic acts including AC/DC, Boston, Doobie Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Journey, KISS, Rush, Styx and more. The first album produced by Win Kutz hit the Billboard charts with a bullet. Nantucket followed up with the album Your Face or Mine and Long Way To The Top.
